Vietnamese is spoken differently depending on geographic location. Each region and province has its distinct dialect. Even though grammatical differences are negligible, Vietnamese varies greatly in tone, accents and even vocabulary. For example, “ch” and “tr” sounds are distinct in the South but are merged by Northerners. The Hanoi accent is considered the “standard” Vietnamese.

I agree with Jackytan that Vietnamese is not easy to learn. It is very complicated but you still can master it if you are hard-working and patient. It maybe costs you a lot of time to learn a foreign language. But you should do it that is very useful for communication!
